FIRST RECORDED ANOMALY

The Pattern was first detected as an anomaly buried in experimental data.

It was too weak to matter.

Too structured to ignore.

What first appeared in one medium later appeared in another.

The medium changed.

The Pattern remained.

DETECTION

The first occurrence was not recognized as a message.

No language, encoding system, or conventional transmission could be identified.

It was recorded because its structure exceeded what could reasonably be dismissed as noise.

RECURRENCE

The anomaly appeared again under different experimental conditions.

Then in another medium.

Its form changed with the medium, but an underlying structure remained detectable.

This recurrence became the defining characteristic of the phenomenon.

MARS CORRELATION

As observations accumulated, a correlation with Mars became increasingly difficult to dismiss.

The correlation did not explain the Pattern.

It provided a direction.

Orbital measurements later narrowed the search region that led to ARC-STR-0001.

INTERPRETATION

The Pattern is not currently classified as a message.

Its source, purpose, and mechanism remain unknown.

It may represent communication.

It may represent a consequence of something else entirely.
